First, I want to take a moment to thank all of my clients for a wonderful 2008. I opened my home studio in August for my very first session. It was a maternity shoot with a wonderful couple who was expecting their first child. I was so nervous but knew I had to get that first session done at some point. Now in the beginning of 2009, just 5 months later, I still get a little nervous before each session, but I know in my heart this is what I want to do. I am so passionate about photography. I am proud of my work. I love what I do.
As a thank you to the clients who gave me an opportunity to capture these moments for them, I have decided to have a fun little contest. I have chosen my favorite image from your session and I am setting up a poll for these images to be voted on by your family and friends. The owner of the image that receives the most votes will get an 11×14 print of their favorite image from their session. (mounted on 2mm styrene.) The owner of the image with the second highest votes will receive an 8×10 print of their favorite shot.
I’ve included a slide show of the images I have chosen for you to vote on.
Contest will be posted soon.

I wanted to share some of my most favorite images from different sessions during the end of 2008. These are just a few but I’m sure you will agree that I had some amazing clients come to my home studio.
Also, If you were a client of mine during 2008 be sure to watch my blog… I am holding a contest later in the month. It will be fun so share the news with your family and friends, as they will be voting on my favorite photo from your session.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year.

Thanks to everyone who has followed along with me during my portfolio building stages of my photography business. I have enjoyed the process and meeting every one of you. I hope you all enjoy your images as much as I do. And as I continue to learn and grow, I hope that you will continue to see the love and passion that I have for photography in my photographs. I appreciate the continued support from my family and friends.
Hugs, Kimberly

I finally got this printed! You might remember me sharing this when I first created it. Now that I’ve got it in print I thought I’d share some example pictures of what it looks like printed. This size is a 10×20 and the images are sized to 5×7.

side view. It is mounted on 2mm styrene.
My holiday cards are finally finished…
I had so much fun making them and am still working on a few more designs. And since the holidays are quickly approaching I thought I’d post some examples for everyone to see.
Keep in mind that the holidays are a busy time for everyone. To guarantee early arrival of your ordered cards, holiday sessions should be completed by November 30th .
Here is a little preview of my cards-

I was asked to supply a photo of my daughter and I to our church for a special mother/daughter night they were having. I took the opportunity to get myself in some pictures with my two youngest kids while the older two were still in school.
These self portraits are not the best (technically) but I still love them. It’s not very often I’m included in the pictures. I really need to make it a habit to be in them more frequently.
Children grow up so fast. I will treasure these pictures of us forever.

Newly Redesigned Blog and Website
I am excited to announce the launch of my new website. I upgraded to a new template and am so thrilled to have it online and available for everyone to view. This new site allows password protected client galleries with shopping cart. That is a great feature to have! It makes it easy for clients to view their proofs and be able to add them into their cart in the sizes they would like printed.
I am able to customize this site in so many different ways, don’t be surprised if it looks a little different later on down the road. Here are some screen shots-

I posted this photograph on Flickr a couple days ago and was so surprised to see that it was ranked high enough to make it into Explore.
For anyone who isn’t familiar with Explore, it is a Flickr feature with the intent to show you “some of the most awesome photos on flickr.” Photos are automatically selected by computer according to a secret algorithm called Interestingness. All photos are given a score and the top 500 photos ranked by interestingness are shown in Explore.
How awesome to see my photo showcased in Explore! Needless to say I was thrilled.

I have been a member of a number of photgraphy message boards for awhile and have heard several stories about images being stolen from websites and blogs. These images are used on other sites where the individuals are claiming them as their own. This is why it is important to watermark all images that will be uploaded and displayed on the interenet. We put alot of time and effort into creating and editing our beautiful images and it’s so sad to think that others are claiming our work as theirs. In effort to protect my own images I am constantly redoing my watermark in hopes of coming up with one that I like. Here is my latest. Still thinking about this one.

Welcome to the new blog for Kimberly Marie Photography! I am so excited to get this underway. This is the place to get information on any upcoming specials, any news or happenings, as well as the place to get sneak peeks of client sessions. I’m sure you’ll get to see a little bit of my personality here as well.
Want to see my favorite picture I took in June? (actually there are 2 of them, because of the story behind them.) I have many that I just love but for one reason or another this set happens to be my favorite…

So, for the story behind these pictures….
We took a trip to Disneyland for Ryan and Sierra’s birthdays. On this day it was her birthday so as we we’re waiting for Justin and the boys I decided to just start singing Happy Birthday to her again. (As I had been doing all day.) She was embarressed and put her head into her arms and then peeked up at me to see if I’d kindly finish. I love her braids and the little ringlet at the ends. Can’t believe my little girl is 4.
